Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently unveiled an update to the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). This year, IRCC is set to accept a maximum of 15,000 complete sponsorship applications under the PGP.

Starting on October 10, IRCC will initiate the process of extending invitations to apply to 24,200 prospective sponsors who have expressed interest, with the goal of ultimately receiving up to 15,000 complete applications.

In light of the remaining 2020 submission pool, rather than initiating a new interest-to-sponsor form, IRCC will randomly select potential sponsors from that existing pool for invitation to apply.

For those who submitted an interest-to-sponsor form in 2020 but did not receive an invitation in 2021 or 2022, it is advisable to check the email account provided during the 2020 form submission.

If you receive an invitation to apply in the 2023 intake, IRCC will continue to utilize the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal, both of which facilitate the electronic submission of applications.
