The Pittsburgh Pirates named Oscar Marin as the pitching coach for new manager Derek Shelton’s staff in 2020.

Marin, 37, was the bullpen coach for the Texas Rangers in 2019 after spending the previous two seasons as the Seattle Mariners’ minor-league pitching coordinator.

Marin was an instructor in the Rangers’ farm system from 2010-16, including stints as a pitching coach for Class-A High Desert and Class-A Hickory. He was named the 2015 South Atlantic League Coach of the Year.

Also on Tuesday, the Pirates promoted assistant pitching coach Justin Meccage to bullpen coach for the 2020 season.
