Canada has conducted a third large Express Entry draw in the space of 14 days, again issuing 7,000 Invitations to Apply.
The March 29 all-program draw featured a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 481, three points lower than the previous all-program draw, which took place on March 23.
Canada has now issued 21,000 Express Entry invitations in the last two weeks.
The three draws featuring 7,000 ITAs are the largest all-program draws ever, and second only to the one-off Covid-inspired draw of February 2021, which saw 27,332 invites issued to Canada Experience Class candidates.
This was Canada’s fifth all-program Express Entry draw of 2023, with the first two seeing 5,500 ITAs each. It has also conducted one draw targeted at Federal Skilled Worker candidates and three at Provincial Nominee Program candidates.
Canada has now issued 38,260 ITAs in 2023 after inviting 45,115 candidates in the whole of 2022.
IRCC issued a record 114,431 ITAs in 2021, to all Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program candidates. It beat the previous record of 107,350 set in 2020.
Canada has a record immigration target of 465,000 for 2023.
The latest draw saw the tie-breaking rule implemented on February 14, 2023, at 3.35am EST. If more than one candidate had the minimum CRS score, only those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before this date and time received invitations.
This was the ninth round of invitations under Express Entry in 2023 and 245th overall.
Candidates have a 60-day window to submit their applications, which will be processed within the six-month standard.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by IRCC which manages skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs. This includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program the Canada Experience Class and parts of the Provincial Nomination Programs.
Stakeholders expect to see high numbers of invitations return as Canada builds towards its target of 465,000 new permanent residents in 2023.
