British Columbia Issues 230 Invitations In New Immigration Draw

British Columbia immigration has conducted a new provincial draw, issuing 230 invitations to apply with certain jobs excluded due to coronavirus restrictions.

The December 22 draw saw British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program officials exclude 31 occupations where a high-volume of applicants have recently been approved.

Given the issues, the following were excluded from the latest draw:

  1. 0621 – Retail and wholesale trade managers
  2. 0631 – Restaurant and food service managers
  3. 0632 – Accommodation service managers
  4. 0651 – Managers in customer and personal services, n.e.c.
  5. 3236 – Massage therapists
  6. 6211 – Retail sales supervisors
  7. 6311 – Food service supervisors
  8. 6313 – Accommodation, travel, tourism and related services supervisors
  9. 6321 – Chefs
  10. 6322 – Cooks
  11. 6341 – Hairstylists and barbers
  12. 6421 – Retail salespersons
  13. 6511 – Maîtres d’hôtel and hosts/hostesses
  14. 6512 – Bartenders
  15. 6513 – Food and beverage servers
  16. 6521 – Travel counsellors
  17. 6522 – Pursers and flight attendants
  18. 6523 – Airline ticket and service agents
  19. 6524 – Ground and water transport ticket agents, cargo service representatives and related clerks
  20. 6525 – Hotel front desk clerks
  21. 6531 – Tour and travel guides
  22. 6532 – Outdoor sport and recreational guides
  23. 6533 – Casino occupations
  24. 6562 – Estheticians, electrologists and related occupations
  25. 6564 – Other personal service occupations
  26. 6611 – Cashiers
  27. 6621 – Service station attendants
  28. 6711 – Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations
  29. 6721 – Support occupations in accommodation, travel and facilities set-up services
  30. 6722 – Operators and attendants in amusement, recreation and sport
  31. 6731 – Light duty cleaners

The draw saw invitations issued across five BC PNP categories.

Skilled workers through the direct provincial stream required 95 points to qualify, while Express Entry skilled workers needed 99 points.

For the direct provincial international graduate stream, 95 points was the minimum score, with 99 points required for the Express Entry international graduate stream.

Entry level and semi-skilled workers required a minimum of 77 points.
